New ambassadors

Bern, 19.06.2026 — As part of the FDFA's periodic rotation policy and on the basis of appointments made by the Federal Council, in 2026 the following personnel changes will be made and an ambassadorial title conferred in the external network and FDFA head office in Bern.

New ambassadors

Georg Steiner has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Iran, based in Tehran.

Philippe Strub has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Angola and the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, based in Luanda.

Conferment of an ambassadorial title at the FDFA

Serge Jean Marie Rumin has been awarded the title of ambassador for his current role as special representative of the Swiss chairpersonship of the OSCE for the promotion of dialogue and confidence-building in Bern.
