Climate change, natural hazards and environmental challenges are major threats to progress towards sustainable development and can jeopardise the work and achievements of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. These threats disproportionately affect poor and vulnerable communities, particularly women and marginalised groups. Ensuring environmentally sound and sustainable human and economic development that is resilient to climate change and natural hazards for the benefit of present and future generations is therefore a priority of Switzerland’s international cooperation.
